When choosing rugs, there are many things to consider, including the style of your space and what kind of mood you want to create because the type of rug you own can say a lot about you and your home. For example, an oval linen or wool rug can add warmth and personality to any living room. Here’s how to choose one that fits your space:

Size

So you’ve decided to purchase a rug for your living room and need help choosing the perfect one. You know that size is essential, but what exactly does “size” mean?

If you choose a carpet much larger than the area it needs to cover (for example: having an 8-foot by 10-foot rug on top of a hardwood floor), this will create an awkward appearance in the room. Your eye will be drawn toward the ceiling rather than down at your lovely new acquisition.

Similarly, suppose you have a minimal space and select a large rug (for example: placing a 9 x 12 area rug atop carpeting). In that case, this may leave too much dead space between pieces of furniture or other decor elements. This can make areas feel empty or unfinished even if they’re fully furnished with tables, lamps, etcetera because all eyes are drawn toward where there is little going on visually.

Shape

On the shaped front, you have many options. Round rugs are incredible for corners and in the centre of the room. Oval rugs are suitable for corners, or you can spread them out in the middle of your living room if you want to create a focal point. Rectangle and square rugs work well in corners or as part of an overall design scheme that includes other shapes (like square end tables).

If your rug is going to be used on spc flooring, make sure that its fibres are made up of materials that won’t scratch them; otherwise, your rug will cause more damage than it prevents. Wool rugs are an excellent option for this.

Density

The thickness of the rug is another essential factor to consider. A thicker rug will be more durable and last longer, but it also tends to be more expensive and heavier, which makes it hard to move around your house. Thicker rugs are usually about 1/4 inch thick, while thinner ones are about 1/8 inch thick.

The density of a rug is another factor you should consider when choosing one for your home. Density refers to the thickness of the fibers in its pile (the part you walk on), which determines how soft or plush it feels underfoot. You must select dense rugs for areas where people spend lots of time—like living rooms and bedrooms—because they’ll feel much softer underfoot. Products made from materials like polypropylene or nylon are less dense.

Placement

Placement is the second most important decision when choosing a rug for your living room, as it can be integral to making sure that the rest of your decor makes sense. As such, you must consider where exactly in your living room you’d like to place a rug before purchasing one.

The first thing to do is ensure that the rug is placed in a way that complements the overall look of your living space. If your couch is dark brown and black leather, then an equally dark carpet may not be ideal (unless you have an equally dark couch). Similarly, suppose there are already large rugs or carpets throughout your room, and you need something smaller for an area near a door or entryway. In that case, you might want something with fewer colours to complement those existing pieces instead of clashing with them.

If there is no specific reason why this area needs more warmth or color than other areas for them all to work together well aesthetically speaking–then go ahead and find something else!

A living room rug can be a great way to personalize your space and add color. However, choosing one that’s right for the area and your needs is essential. A good quality wool round rug will be hardwearing and, if maintained well, can last longer. Wool rugs are versatile and are available in different sizes and colors.
